October Lessons
10/02/2013 13:17
Students have received grades for all September lessons. If your child has not come home with the graded rubric, please ask to see it. I am also asking that students keep all their written work and grade sheets in their Writing Notebook as an extra precaution in the event of a grading mistake. Creative Writing Assignment sheets for October were handed out today. These Assignment sheets should be kept in the Creative Writing Notebook and should be turned in toward the end of the month, when the student has finished all of the projects. EVERY ASSIGNMENT MUST BE AT LEAST ONE FULL PAGE, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. The writing projects for October include:
- Characterization 1- Design a T-shirt (no writing required).
- Characterization 2- Write an essay about a person who has had an impact on your life.
- Point-of-View 1- Tell a familiar story from a different point of view (Example: The 3 Little Pigs told from the point of view of the wolf, Cinderella told from the point of view of the step mother).
- Point-of-View 2- In 1/2 page, tell about something that happened to you (trip to the fair, a day at school). Then, in another half page, tell about that from a space alien's point of view as he observes you in that behavior but doesn't understand it.
- Letter 3- Write a pretend letter to your principal explaining why you need more time in between classes. Be sure to use proper letter format and include plenty of detail. Come up with creative ways to use the additional time (snacks, exercise, library, phone calls etc.)
- Letter 4- Write a pretend letter to your friend's parents, thanking them for taking you along on an amazing camping trip. Be sure to organize your paragraphs appropriately.
- The Necklace- Plot, characters, conflict, resolution (discuss each part in 1/2 page each for a total of TWO pages). This is a response to a short story we read in class: https://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/Neck.shtml
- Children's Story- Write an original story, appropriate for a young child. Consider appropriate vocabulary and reading level for a young child.
- Adventure Story- Write an original adventure story, appropriate for any age group. The story must include the following: Hero, struggle and change.
- Science Fiction Story- Write an original story that involves a New World, New Characters, New Plot.
