Students typing paragraph and letter formats. Additionally, we are using games to increase speed and accuracy rates. We are also learning to type and research for infomation.
MARCH
typing.com Students complete lessons that are now timed and give accuracy percentages. Students are typing letters in both block and indented paragraph format. Some vocabulary review is incorporated into sentence typing practice with the use of the Herzog typing method and word banks. Students get experience using Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet and charts.
FEBRUARY
typeonline.co.uk Students complete paragraph practice lessons and save them into a daily Word document. Additionally, we create and rename folders for both our typing work and our creative project work. This week, we are creating Valentine cards in Paint and in Word.
JANUARY
Introduction to Home Row. Students complete lessons in order to memorize home row positions. We explore the fundamentals of internet safety and the importance of proper key boarding technique.
DECEMBER
Students finish the Advanced lessons in typing.com Students may re do any old lessons for a better score. Supplimental lesson activities are found in Hour of Code and Prezi.
NOVEMBER
Students work through the last lessons of Herzog System of Keyboarding. Students should be in the last few lessons of Intermediate level or beginning the Advanced levels. Students may access supplimental videos of the History of Thanksgiving through the provided link.
OCTOBER
Students use the Herzog System of Keyboarding in Microsoft Word. We review proper typing technique, as well as formatting on the page. Students complete beginner levels, advancing through Intermediate lessons on typing.com. Students may access supplimental videos of October literature through the link provided in class.
August-September
Students work through lessons on typing.com in order to review use of the Home Row. Students should read through all comments/feedback and pay careful attention to every picture illustration in order to model good typing technique.
Additionally, students work through an introduction to Microsoft Word, using functions and tools in order to duplicate daily lessons onto an office page.
